How to multibox in Perfect World

Running several accounts in PW is the fastest way to have a cleric, a bard and a tank always online for your party. Here’s how to do it without going crazy with alt-tab.

Updated

Why play with several accounts

In Perfect World, a lot gets easier with a fixed party: a cleric to heal and buff, a tank to hold the mobs, someone to deal damage. When you control all of those accounts, you don’t depend on anyone’s schedule to farm, run dungeons or level up.

The hard part is controlling everything at once. That’s where a multi-client comes in.

The manual way (and why it wears you out)

You can multibox without any tool, but the routine is long:

  • Open the client several times and type login and password in each window.
  • Invite each character to the party and accept the invite on each one.
  • Alt-tab to every window to follow, target, buff and use skills.
  • Repeat every NPC conversation and every quest, account by account.

Step by step with PW Overlay

PW Overlay automates that routine. From download to a ready party:

  1. Download and install PW Overlay.
  2. Click “New server”, give it a name and pick your Perfect World client folder.
  3. Under “Accounts”, add each account with login, password, character name and class.
  4. Click “Open accounts”. Each window opens and logs in on its own; the panel shows progress.
  5. Arrange the order in the panel: the first one on the list is the leader.
  6. Press Shift + Home to create the party and Ctrl + Shift + S so everyone follows the leader.
  7. Build each character’s combo and start it with Alt + X.
  8. For anything else, use Shift + Del: record on the leader and replay on the followers.

Tips to keep it smooth

A few settings make a difference with many windows open:

  • Lower graphics on secondary accounts: only the leader needs to look good.
  • Turn on “Keep rendering without focus” if you want the other windows to keep moving. It’s a bit heavier.
  • If the game runs as administrator, run PW Overlay as administrator too.
  • If a key gets lost when switching windows, raise the “Delay after switching windows”.
  • If party clicks miss their spot, switch “Click calculation” to the legacy mode.

First things first: check your server’s rules

Each server has its own rules about multi-client and automation. Many allow several accounts per person, some cap the number and others forbid programs that send commands on the player’s behalf. Read your server’s rules before using it.
